Discovering the Gemini Protocol

I found an interesting article from a blogger in Paris named Sylvain Durand. Durand has his own blog and publishes his thoughts on various topics, and I thought it appropriate to share one of his posts from December 3, 2020, titled “Discovering the Gemini Protocol.” I will include a link to the blog post if anyone wishes to read it for themselves, but I will briefly summarize his points. Durand explains that he misses the days when content was available with no barriers, when no tracking was involved, and when there were not as many issues of privacy on the web.

He is most wistful about how he used to meet people on the internet, on small sites often made by “passionate amateurs.” He states now that the internet has become, in his opinion, too “privatized.” He states that he believes that “small web still exists but is buried and hardly appears in search engines anymore.” While Durand misses the days of old, with the smaller number of people on chat sites, he is greatly excited on what Gemini is trying to accomplish. The article goes on to explain how one can use Gemini and some of the pros of Gemini. I found Durand’s piece to be an interesting read, and, as it seems that Durand is a bit older in age, it is great to hear someone else's perspective on Gemini who grew up using an internet that my generation can never experience-- perhaps not until sites like Gemini come along.
